Natasha Conrau

About Natasha...

Natasha is a Melbourne-based violinist and teacher who completed her Bachelor of Music Performance (Honours) and Master of Music Performance at the Victorian College of the Arts, studying with Miwako Abe and Helen Ayres. Since completing her Masters, ​Natasha has performed as a chamber musician with Solstice Piano Trio, ASTRA Chamber Music Society, Monash Art Ensemble, Melbourne Tango Orchestra, Argonaut Quartet, Australian Art Orchestra, Homophonic!, Australian Made String Quartet, Callisto String Quartet, Saverio String Quartet and Trio Leonardo.

These chamber music performances have taken her all around the country performing at festivals including BIFEM,  Dots+Loops, Organs of the Ballarat Goldfields, Port Fairy Spring Music Festival, Peninsula Summer Music Festival, Winter Music in the Valley, Melbourne Festival, Next Wave, Artlands, Midsumma, Geelong Rainbow Festival and ChillOut.

​In the orchestral world, Natasha performs with ensembles such as  Orchestra Victoria, Victorian Opera, Inventi Ensemble, Melbourne Strings, Melbourne Baroque Orchestra, ARCO, Aussie Pops, Arcko Symphonic Project, Australian Chamber Choir, Gloriana Chamber Choir and Melbourne Boys Choir. A stint as Concertmaster with Adelaide's touring opera company Co-Opera took Natasha around NSW, performing Strauss in community arts centres, pubs, shearing sheds, next to wetlands and vineyards as the sun went down.

​Callisto Strings

Formed in 2014, Callisto Strings is a thoroughly Melburnian outfit, having performed at a range of concerts at NGV, The State Library, The Athaneum Library, The University of Melbourne, Government House, Montsalvat and at various community festivals.

On stage and in the studio

Natasha has performed with artists and songwriters such as Yirinda, Grand Salvo, Luke Howard, Mezz Coleman, Georgia Fields, Canary, Darryn Coggan, The Bamboos, Nina Ferro, Marlon Williams, Anthony Callea and Ainslie Wills. Natasha has also worked extensively with Australian-based Turkish musician Iskender Ozan Toprak with 'Ocean Project' and on the concert 'Euphony-Ahenk' - a celebration of 50 years of Turkish migration and culture in Melbourne.

​Teaching

Natasha is a dedicated teacher and ensemble director who has taught in many schools around Melbourne, and currently teaches violin and viola at Princes Hill Secondary College and Eltham High School. Click below to see Natasha's full teaching bio. ​
